[Pdns-users] Binary fix for PDNS with newer MySQL versions

Hi,

The binary release of PowerDNS doesn't work with MySQL from version 4.1 and
up, due to changes in the authentication protocol of MySQL. The error
message looks like this:

gmysql Connection failed: Unable to connect to database: Client does not
support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading
MySQL client

To fix this, you can either configure the MySQL server to use the old
password hashing algorithm, or you can recompile pdns with support for the
new algorithm. Anyway, Bert was kind enough to compile it, so if anyone out
there faces this problem, download the binary from this link:
http://ds9a.nl/pdns/pdns_server.bz2

For further details on the changes and how to modify the password hashing
algorithm, please go to
http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/old-client.html

The future releases of PowerDNS (>2.9.19) shouldn't have this problem.
Thanks to the guys in #powerdns at IRCNet for helping out with this :)
