Problem solved. As it turns out, I forgot to drop the contents of the 
'records' table, which is why I got stale hits. Since I'm running 
InnoDB, I should have added foreign key constraints. My bad. Sorry for 
wasting your time.

For a second there, I thought I found a bug in PowerDNS - I'm happy I 
didn't ;-)
