Hi,
I'm attempting to setup a Round Robin DNS, that is one entry with multiple
IP addresses.

Bind8/9 seem to randomize the answer section in dig:

Bind9 server try one:
;; ANSWER SECTION:
irc.irc-chat.net. 300 IN A 202.181.4.129
irc.irc-chat.net. 300 IN A 203.208.228.144
irc.irc-chat.net. 300 IN A 216.218.235.254
irc.irc-chat.net. 300 IN A 66.36.230.118

Bind9 Server try two:
;; ANSWER SECTION:
irc.irc-chat.net. 300 IN A 203.208.228.144
irc.irc-chat.net. 300 IN A 216.218.235.254
irc.irc-chat.net. 300 IN A 66.36.230.118
irc.irc-chat.net. 300 IN A 202.181.4.129

But PDNS (2.9.7) always answers with the same order:

PDNS Try one:
;; ANSWER SECTION:
irc.irc-chat.net. 300 IN A 66.36.230.118
irc.irc-chat.net. 300 IN A 202.181.4.129
irc.irc-chat.net. 300 IN A 203.208.228.144
irc.irc-chat.net. 300 IN A 216.218.235.254

PDNS Try two:
;; ANSWER SECTION:
irc.irc-chat.net. 300 IN A 66.36.230.118
irc.irc-chat.net. 300 IN A 202.181.4.129
irc.irc-chat.net. 300 IN A 203.208.228.144
irc.irc-chat.net. 300 IN A 216.218.235.254

(you can test this at bind9 primary: www.dynam.ac pdns secondary:
nurgle.my-ho.st)

I'm using gmysql backend, and its running on Linux (RedHat 8)

Unfortunately, one server in the round robin seems to be taking extra load,
and its not really load balancing here...

Am I right in assuming that pdns doesnt randomize the answers here, and is
there any solution to the problem?

Regards

Justin Hammond
