I'm having an issue where resolving in application takes long time. It only
seems to affect gethostbyname() but not, for example, if one does dig.
I've used this as test
wget http://pkgs.repoforge.org/perl-Task-Weaken/perl-Task-Weaken-1.03-1.el6.rfx.noarch.rpm
which results into spending almost 20 seconds in resolving the redirects. If
those redirects are manually resolved using dig, it takes milliseconds.
RedHat supports only comment on this issue is that it is pdns fault, and they
suggest as workaround to use this in /etc/resolv.conf:
options single-request-reopen
when that is used, resolving works normally. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.
