Hi,

I'm new to PowerDNS, and, in general, the task of setting up a DNS
server. In order to learn what's involved in installing and configuring
pdns, I have installed ver. 2.9.21.1 on a virtual machine that's running
FreeBSD 7.1 and MySQL 5.1.28. My plan is to create zones with local
addresses only. When I launch pdns, I get the following messages:

Mar 16 17:32:44 This is module gmysqlbackend.so reporting
Mar 16 17:32:44 This is a standalone pdns
Mar 16 17:32:44 Listening on controlsocket in '/var/run/pdns.controlsocket'
Mar 16 17:32:44 UDP server bound to 192.168.1.70:53
Mar 16 17:32:44 TCP server bound to 192.168.1:53
Mar 16 17:32:44 PowerDNS 2.9.21.1 (C) 2001-2008 PowerDNS.COM BV (Mar 15
2009, 21:14:43, gcc 4.2.1 20070719 [FreeBSD]) starting up
Mar 16 17:32:44 PowerDNS comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY. This is free
software, and you are welcome to redistribute it according to the terms
of the GPL version 2.
Mar 16 17:32:44 Creating backend connection for TCP
Mar 16 17:32:44 gmysql Connection succesful
Mar 16 17:32:44 About to create 3 backend threads for UDP
Mar 16 17:32:44 gmysql Connection succesful
Mar 16 17:32:45 gmysql Connection succesful
Mar 16 17:32:45 gmysql Connection succesful

And that's it. I never get the message, "Done launching threads, ready
to distribute questions", and pdns never actually launches. Please let
me know what information I should share with you all that would help you
to understand what's going on here. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Sincerely,
Dave Corsello
