[Pdns-users] "host" command returning weird results. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Hello Nicholas,

Host on CentOS 5 is also doing a lookup for a AAAA and a MX record.
These records are missing in your test zone.

Output tcpdump:
17:53:30.347753 IP 192.168.0.179.32795 > dns1.bondware.com.domain:
30025+ AAAA? www.test.com. (30)
17:53:30.427114 IP dns1.bondware.com.domain > 192.168.0.179.32795:
30025 ServFail- 0/0/0 (30)
17:53:30.430689 IP 192.168.0.179.32796 > dns1.bondware.com.domain:
1109+ MX? www.test.com. (30)
17:53:30.509351 IP dns1.bondware.com.domain > 192.168.0.179.32796: 1109
ServFail- 0/0/0 (30)

This is the source of your two ServFail answers.
