[Pdns-users] problems starting pdns in monitor mode

Hi:

I'm new to Powerdns, and am having a problem getting pdns to run in
'monitor' mode.

I have installed the pdns name server on Mandrake Linux Ver 9.2, along
with MySql for the backend.

In following the installation instructions, before I configure the backend
database, I tried to check the general operation of pdns. To this I typed

/etc/init.d/pdns monitor

the pdns server tried to start but crashed. The following is the screen dump:
