Some general feedback on the pdns_recursor web server:
- This thing is awesome. Thank you. I've been a loyal use of Authoritative
for 11 years, but this is my first use of Recursor. I love it.
- The configuration in `recursor.conf` for the web server only has a config
value for password; no username. And the documentation for this
configuration mentions absolutely nothing about username. But, when trying
to log in to the web server, it uses HTTP Authentication, which requires a
username. I had to use Google for several minutes to find a third-party
website that said you can use any username in that field and it will work.
That should probably be mentioned in the documentation, or something other
than HTTP Auth should be used, or, for better security, there should be a
username config, too. Just my 2ยข.
- About 4 out of every 5 requests to http://my_server:8082 results in an
otherwise-blank page with the words "Bad Request". I have to keep reloading
the page and and re-entering the password and then eventually it brings up
the stats page. There are no messages in the PDNS Recursor log regarding
this issue, so I've no way of telling what's wrong. It's just that
HTML-rendered stats page. The API requests work just fine. :-/
Thanks again for this awesome product!
Nick
