Subject: PowerDNS API and RFC in relation to CNAMEs

Good morning,
I was doing a bit of test in relation to PowerDNS API

I have created a CNAME "ciao8.rainbow.com" using API

After that I tried to create an A record with the same name "ciao8.rainbow.com" and the API allowed me to do so

Is this a wanted behaviour?
By RFC shouldn't this be not allowed because

""A CNAME record is not allowed to coexist with any other data.""

Any idea?

If you have already answered to a similar question could you give me the link that point to it please?
I have tried to have a look in the archive of this mailing list but I couldn't find anything

Thanks in advance

Diego
