Your box is not answering queries. My best bet would be that PowerDNS
ist not configured to answer queries to 172.16.50.135 or that there is
a local firewall running on the actual box.

Assuming Linux, iptables -nvL please.

next time, please use tcpdump -np since this reduces the clutter.
