I had not seen this before. It does look like pdns-recursor shows deviant (probably wrong) behaviour here.

Interestingly, this is what 3.4-pre shows:
;; ANSWER SECTION:
_http._tcp.dns-sd.org.	59	IN	PTR	*.
_http._tcp.dns-sd.org.	59	IN	PTR	*.
_http._tcp.dns-sd.org.	59	IN	PTR	*.
_http._tcp.dns-sd.org.	59	IN	PTR	*.
_http._tcp.dns-sd.org.	59	IN	PTR	Stuart\226\128\153s.
_http._tcp.dns-sd.org.	59	IN	PTR	*.
_http._tcp.dns-sd.org.	59	IN	PTR	*.
_http._tcp.dns-sd.org.	59	IN	PTR	*.
_http._tcp.dns-sd.org.	59	IN	PTR	*.
_http._tcp.dns-sd.org.	59	IN	PTR	*.
_http._tcp.dns-sd.org.	59	IN	PTR	*.
_http._tcp.dns-sd.org.	59	IN	PTR	*.
_http._tcp.dns-sd.org.	59	IN	PTR	*.

Which also seems wrong. I will look into this.

Kind regards,
