It appears we forgot to document this!

We have the 'SOA-EDIT' http://doc.powerdns.com/domainmetadata.html
capability.

This can be set to:

* INCEPTION, which turns the SOA into a rendition of the signature inception time
* INCEPTION-WEEK, which uses the week number since 1970
* INCREMENT-WEEKS, which increments the existing SOA-SERIAL with this week number
* EPOCH, which uses the number of seconds since 1970 as the serial

This should address your problem. Please let us know!
