[Pdns-users] quick note - powerdns recursor works fine with 'Lua JIT' just-in-time compiler

Hi everybody,

We know that some of you are doing very exciting things with the PowerDNS
Recursor and Lua.  And while Lua is already very fast, on
http://www.luajit.org a 'just in time' compiling version of Lua can be
found.

On some workloads, speedups of 1 or 2 orders of magnitude are observed by
the LuaJIT people. Even the worst speedup appears to be a factor of two.

We just checked, and it appears that the PowerDNS Recursor is completely
compatible with LuaJIT.

So if you are doing complicated Lua things in PowerDNS, you might want to
check out LuaJIT.

For normal operations, the overhead of Lua is very very small in PowerDNS,
so there is no pressing need to change anything.
