Yes, by setting the domain type to native (that stops automatic axfrs) and
then from cron:
pdns_control --secret="mysecret" --remote-address=127.0.0.1 retrieve
DOMAINNAME

I was unable to get the local control socket /var/run/pdns.controlsocket to
work, i.e. with:
pdns_control retrieve DOMAINNAME
(although socket-dir=/var/run in pdns.conf the socket is not being created).
