Can you try to compile http://ds9a.nl/pdns/pdns-2.9.19-svn-2.tar.gz and see
if the problem goes away?

This is a strong indication that compiling your own version of PowerDNS
would solve at least this problem. You probably run our statically compiled
version of PowerDNS?

Which Linux distribution do you run, Red Hat?
