The behaviour is backend specific. Some backends implement connection failure
recovery, others don't. I've done that for the ldap backend but I think that
most of the sql backends don't do it if it isn't done already in the client
library.

The fix is to throw an exception if the connection is unavailable. The backend
will then be recreated automatically by pdns.
