It happens often enough to be a concern. We routinely have these kinds
of numbers:

Uptime: 10.2 hours Queries/second, 1, 5, 10 minute averages: 55.5, 60.3,
60.9. Max queries/second: 484
Cache hitrate, 1, 5, 10 minute averages: 74%, 75%, 75%
Backend query cache hitrate, 1, 5, 10 minute averages: 51%, 52%, 53%
Backend query load, 1, 5, 10 minute averages: 42.8, 45.6, 44.7. Max
queries/second: 53.2
Total queries: 1955435. Question/answer latency: 0.19ms

The longest runtime between cores is about 8 days, but has also been as
much as 4 times in a 24 hour period.

Core was generated by `pdns_server'.
Program terminated with signal 11, Segmentation fault.

Please please please tell me more about your set. Operating system,
powerdns version, query load, does this happen often, Received a
malformed qdomain from whom etc etc.

Also, running:

gdb /usr/sbin/pdns_server core
bt

Might help a lot - if you can find the coredump.

Thanks!
