What happens is that PowerDNS internally knows it has to do a 'like' query
for certain questions. To prevent that from happening when it is not needed,
pdns checks for a % as the first character of a domain. But it forgets that
stuff in the middle of a domain can come up front during processing the
query.

www.example.com leads to a example.com and a com and a . question. 

Will release 2.9.17 asap.
