Well after 2 hours, powerdns ground to a halt. The web interface was
accessible but the system was not answering requests. I will try again
tomorrow with logging and see what happens.

I've just completed a production deployment of PowerDNS.

My system config is as follows:

Dual 1GHz Pentium 3s
1GB Ram

The system has a RAID 1 mirrored filesystem for redundancy.

The pdns box uses an ODBC connect to a 2 node SQL2K Enterprise cluster.

So far it seems to be able to handle the load. I'm interested in
performance tuning suggestions. So far I have only done this:

# PowerDNS configuration file.

# Use NT logging when running as a service:
use-ntlog=yes

# Backends to launch at startup:
launch=godbc

godbc-datasource=powerdns
godbc-username=powerdns
godbc-password=powerdns

# Point to the recursor:
recursor=127.0.0.1:5300

# Launch a statistical webserver:
webserver=yes
webserver-address=0.0.0.0
webserver-port=80

# Tuning parameters
cache-ttl=60
