No, this patch is not a necessity for 2.9.10. It would be better to 
include it in 2.9.11 or so.

You will also get the AXFR code for the ldapbackend soon.

Yes, they work as expected and described by me. Remember that 
allow-axfr-ips cannot overwrite disable-axfr=yes any more.
