Hi Bert

Is there a way to get the id of the thread, which established the 
backend?

I want to shuffle the ldap-host parameter to be able to bind all 
distributor threads to different ldap server for load balancing if 
there is more than one.

getpid() works with the Linux thread implementation, but may not be 
portable to other thread implementations.
