Yep, works as (formerly) intended, but I fear Bind and other 
nameservers will be confused if they get the zone and the reverse 
zone all in once.

The patch attached below against 2.9.11 fixes this behaviour and 
provides the behaviour expected by other name servers. Additionally, 
there are some code improvements in the diffs included
