From marco.davids at sidn.nl Thu Jul 3 07:41:58 2025 From: marco.davids at sidn.nl (Marco Davids (SIDN)) Date: Thu, 3 Jul 2025 09:41:58 +0200 Subject: [dnsdist] Feature request: RFC8914 EDE option for setDynBlocksAction Message-ID: <5a01038b-b5f9-4a4e-a37b-7a0322f3bdd4@sidn.nl> I'm quite a fan of RFC 8914 EDEs. So I was thinking ? wouldn?t it be nice if 'setDynBlocksAction' (and possibly others) supported an optional parameter to attach an EDE of your choice to the action? There?s no specific code for rate limiting yet (I've floated the idea), so for now, code 0 with some explanatory text in the EXTRA-TEXT field seems like a reasonable workaround. Or more broadly, this is a plea for more EDE support in dnsdist functions, starting with 'setDynBlocksAction'. -- Marco From bortzmeyer at nic.fr Thu Jul 3 14:30:22 2025 From: bortzmeyer at nic.fr (Stephane Bortzmeyer) Date: Thu, 3 Jul 2025 16:30:22 +0200 Subject: [dnsdist] Feature request: RFC8914 EDE option for setDynBlocksAction In-Reply-To: <5a01038b-b5f9-4a4e-a37b-7a0322f3bdd4@sidn.nl> References: <5a01038b-b5f9-4a4e-a37b-7a0322f3bdd4@sidn.nl> Message-ID: On Thu, Jul 03, 2025 at 09:41:58AM +0200, Marco Davids (SIDN) via dnsdist wrote a message of 27 lines which said: > There?s no specific code for rate limiting yet (I've floated the > idea), See the Internet-Draft > Or more broadly, this is a plea for more EDE support in dnsdist functions, > starting with 'setDynBlocksAction'. Ticket may be of interest, too.
