<div>Hi!</div>
<div>Cpanel is good for hosting, but it is not so good for DNS, because it use BIND, and that's why I want to keeping using cpanel for my hosting clients but move to use pdns for my domain clients and hosting clients.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>BIND use zone file to store information for a domain name, although cpanel got web interface let user to modify or create dns setting but only a few (or maybe none) of my clients know how to set their IPs, not to mention my domain only clients, they register domain from us and we need to provide a easy way for them to set IPs, they maybe not buy my hosting service so they won't have the cpanel interface to setup dns.
</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Anyway, I think I already figure out how to setup pdns on cpanel, I still in middle of getting pdns serve my needs, I hope I can provide some kind of menu or howto when I finished, cause pdns's document seems have some bugs to me and there is no where mention how should u do if u are on a cpanel box.
</div>

<div>Yes, I know cpanel let users create/delete zones.</div>

<div>So, If we don't let client modify dns zones by themselves thu cpanel, we can install pdns, is that what you mean ?</div>

<div>If I install pdns, is that means we have to remove bind ?</div>
<div>They all need port 53, right ?</div>
<div>If remove bind, will cpanel re-install it again when doing cpanel upgrade ?</div>

<div style="WORD-WRAP: break-word">James, cpanel is heavily tied to bind as it allows users to edit the zones through their own web interface, and does things like automatically ceate/delete zones when accounts are added. You could technically install pdns, and it would work as a DNS server, but you would completely break cpanel doing so.
