[Pdns-users] Heads up for Lua users within PowerDNS: check your code before upgrading

Hi everybody,

The PowerDNS Recursor has supported Lua scripting now for a number of years,
as described on
http://doc.powerdns.com/recursor-scripting.html#AEN4364

The instructions found there are correct, and will remain correct for the
upcoming 3.2 release of the PowerDNS Recursor. This is the good news.

However, for quite a long time, the subversion (SVN) source code supported
another syntax for the nxdomain() and preresolve() functions, accepting four
parameters instead of three.

* So, if you are running a -testing version of 3.2, or compiled from
* Subversion, and have a working Lua script, *after upgrading* you will no
* longer have a working Lua script!

So before doing any upgrading from -testing or self-compiled versions from
Subversion, please check the manual linked above, especially the
getlocaladdress() function.

Kind regards,

Bert Hubert
