    <p>Thanks for the pointer, seeing as the backend support proxy
      protocol, disabling use_client_subnet seem like the most straight
      forward fix.</p>

      That's a strong possibility indeed. The zero-scope feature might
      mitigate the impact if and only if the backend is cooperating:
